About Us

Opening in 1992 in the grounds of the Reformed Church, the school moved to its present location in February 1995. Devonport Christian School is one of 86 Christian Education National, formerly Christian Parent Controlled, schools around Australia. We are a Registered School in Tasmania and a member of AIST (Association of Independent Schools Tasmania).

Governing Body

The school is governed by the Devonport Christian School Inc., a group of committed Christian parents, who annually elect a Board which sets policies and manages the education, spiritual and financial development of the school. The Board appoints the Principal, who is responsible to the Board, for the educational leadership and management of the school.

School Structure

The Association consists of Members and Associate Members who, regardless of whether they have children attending the School or not, support the aims and objectives of the School.

Membership of the Association is not automatic once children are enrolled, however, Application Forms and information are available from the School Office.

The Board of Directors is the executive body of the Association which governs policy, financial, building and educational matters.

The Principal, who is an advisory member of the Board, is responsible to the Board for the day-to-day operation of the School.

The Business Manager is responsible for financial matters.

Board Committees advise the Board on Finance, Education and Building and Grounds.

The Parents and Friends Association is a supportive organisation made up of parents of currently enrolled children, and other interested persons. The Parents and Friends provide financial and social support for the school through its fund-raising projects and community activities. All parents are eligible (and encouraged) to actively participate in the P & F activities and meetings.

To provide quality education in a Christian environment.
