Timetable Changes

In Term 4 we have decided to trial a new daily schedule for the whole term. This will not affect the start and end times of a day, but will have some slight changes for children for lessons and breaks (including an extended lunchtime play by 10 minutes). Each learning lesson will be 45 minutes each. We are trialling having 'Daily PE' on Tuesdays and Thursdays and only having morning assemblies on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. This will be the new daily timetable:

8:30 Assembly (Mon, Wed, Fri) Daily PE (Tue, Thurs)
8:45 Period 1
9:30 Period 2
10:15 Period 3
11:00 Recess
11:20 Period 4
12:05 Period 5
12:50 Lunch - eating - supervised
1:00 Lunch (play time) Library opens at 1:20
1:40 Period 6
2:25 Period 7
3:10 End of Day

    Canteen News

Hi everyone, just a friendly reminder that the Canteen Menu will change at the start of Term 4 back to the Summer Menu. Copies are available at the school office if you need one! Don't forget that its not too late to come and volunteer to help! Maybe Term 4 would be a good opportunity to try it out and see how much fun it is to serve our children and staff, and get to know them and be involved in our wonderful school! Melinda French would like to have smoothies for sale at recess, so if there is anyone who would love to volunteer, please see Melinda as she would love to talk to you--as this won't be possible without your help! Cheers from DCS Canteen:-)

      Snow Day!

On Monday, 3rd August we were amazed to arrive at school to find it snowing!

Everyone had a great time enjoying the cold, but beautiful weather! We even had some students and staff away as they were snowed in at their homes!

The Grade 3 class learnt about haikus last week, and they were inspired to write some haikus of their own about their experiences with the snow. Here are some of them:

Snow is so joyful. Soft, so rare to find in town. Fun to play in snow. By Thomas

Soft, white and speckled. My tongue feels cold and crazy! Very refreshing. By Sophie

Ice tastes watery. Drink bottle filled with soft snow. Delicate snowflakes. By Angelina

Cold, white, wet today. Freezing snow with flakes of white. Exciting to watch. By Daniel
